A large pot with in a classic style, this lovely planter is well suited to gardens with perhaps a more formal leaning in their design. The fluted ‘gadrooning’ is seen through the centuries in various items of ornamentation, which means this pot will fit right in with box planting, topiary and formal front gardens. Try it with a spiral box, or just a simple ‘lollipop’ yew. Used in pairs, it looks great either side of a path, gate, or doorway. Especially in front of a conservatory or sunroom.
You can also use one of each of the 3 sizes the pot comes in, to make a group of pots which is very effective at creating drama on a patio.
The pot is handmade in southern Vietnam by skilled craftsmen without the use of any machinery, and is then fired in traditional wood burning kilns reaching temperatures around 1200 degrees centigrade. The material used is made from a mixture of 3 local clays that are very dense and therefor strong. That and the high firing temperature means the final pot is frost proof in all but the most severe winter. The result is a pot you can leave outdoors in any weather without any worries.
When planting it up, be sure to use a quality, free-draining compost, and place plenty of broken crock, gravel or drainage medium in the bottom of the pot. This will help to provide a good growing environment for whatever plants you use, and also, it will add to the longevity of the pot.
